Muffins for Mom

Today was Muffins for Mom at Paige's school. It was a lot of fun and super yummy. The kids all made muffins for us and then served us. They made all kinds of art for the table! It was super sweet! Enjoy the pics!!

Also, think about me tomorrow...it is our "graduation" 5K...I am so excited and will hopefully post some pics from it tomorrow! Pray for good weather! : )

Why you need 9 volt batteries...

in your house at ALL times. You know how every now and then you are dreaming only to wake up to a sound that was in your dream and in real life? Well that was me this morning at 3:00 am! I was having a dream about our smoke alarm and it was making some sort of annoying beep. Once I fully came too I realized it wasn't a dream but rather our smoke alarm making an annoying beep in real life! Joy, low battery. Now I have personally been through this before with our crazy smoke alarms. When Chloe was a brand new baby and Derek was back at work our smoke alarms went off in this house for no apparent reason...FOREVER. Loud and long enough to have to pack Paige and Chloe up for a drive because I was loosing my mind in here. Now I am sure it is the safest thing to have a smoke alarm just inside and just outside of every bedroom, BUT when they are all screaming at you for no apparent reason it is a little unnerving! Anyway, back to this morning. I knew that beep and before the craziness of the alarms I mention before that is just how it started. Now at 3:00 AM I wasn't exactly wanting all of the kids to be awake, so we tried to figure it out. Well, basically they all run off of electricity BUT they have backup batteries just in case the power goes off when there is an actual fire! Being the thinker that I am I thought hey we have those 9 volt batteries in our clocks as back up for when the power goes off so we don't miss our alarm. Since I don't much use my alarm any more I knew that mine was out but I figured Derek's would work. He got it out climbed the ladder and put it in...then the beeps started again! Well, long story short, he ended up running up to the 24 hour gas station to get a 9 volt battery to put in so we could get back to sleep! ( to the tune of $7 for one battery) Can you believe it! Needless to say we now have 9 volt batteries on our list and will ALWAYS have an extra on hand! Just one of those crazy stories that we just had to laugh at!!

What Happens When You Don't Get A Nap...

Chloe missed her nap the other day and Derek took this picture of her at about 7:00 that evening...she just can't miss. He tried to wake her up but it was no use, so we got a cute picture and a little one in bed early.

Random picture...

We are attempting to grow a tomato plant...so far so good. The girls think it is a lot of fun. We planted a bell pepper plant too, it might not make it, should have stuck to the tomato...We also planted some herbs and that is a lot of fun to go out and cut them while making dinner..."Just like Ina" Paige says!

CBS Spring Program

The little girls and I go to CBS (community bible study) while Paige is in school. They had their Spring program and Chloe got to sing in it. Their little class had donkey masks and sang two songs, the second with sign language. Chloe did great. She walked in with her mask on and did just what she was supposed to do. When she spotted me she waved real big and then loudly (for Chloe that is the only way) said "I see my mommy!" Everyone got a chuckle out of that. She did good with her sign language and made me so proud...she was very proud of herself as well!! too cute!

Easter 2009

We had a great Easter weekend. We started off the weekend with coloring Easter eggs. Not entirely sure why we did this...I mean it was fun and all but we didn't hide them and now they are just sitting on the counter ready to be thrown out. Oh well it was fun. We did hide the plastic eggs but more on that in a minute. On Saturday we went to the Benton Courthouse for an Easter Egg Hunt. It was a lot of fun. They had a 4 and under age division that was perfect for us. The egg "hiders" really didn't have to work too hard, they just scattered 5,000 eggs on the courthouse lawn with tons of eager kids waiting to pounce on them. When the signal was given it was almost like a human vacuum cleaner across the grass...nothing was left in its place! The girls were a little overwhelmed by all of the people and stuff but they had fun and got enough eggs to satisfy. We then took ours to a less crowded location to check out the loot. All of the eggs were filled with candy! I was helping Paige with one of hers that was taped and when I opened it there was no candy but a piece of paper that said, "WINNER!! of a $50 savings bond!". Now how cool is that! She was really excited and ready to go and get her money right then. Very Fun! Sunday we got up and got our Easter basket presents. Not sure why but Derek and I just felt funny about the whole Easter Bunny thing...I mean really Easter is about so much more!!! Now don't get down on me...I didn't say I was against the basket and eggs and presents and candy, just a bunny coming by seemed weird on such a moving day. So we went ahead with hiding the eggs and filling the baskets with stuff but just said it was from us instead. We want them to know from the beginning how important Easter is and that it really is about JESUS! The girls each got a golf club, one just their size and some pink golf balls. Can you guess who picked that out? Paige has a pretty good swing already. They went out and hit once in the backyard before the girls got too cold and apparently Paige almost broke the window in our back door. Maybe we need some of those soft practice balls! Easter was a good day, if RAINED AND RAINED AND RAINED but we had a good day and the girls looked precious. Thanks for reading all of this. Hope your Easter was the best...

A Little Out of the Loop

Well, it has been entirely too long since I posted and for that I am really sorry. However, I do have a decent excuse...I had surgery this past Monday. Turns out that an old incision from a surgery in 97 got a little messed up by 3 large babies in almost as many years. Who knew? I just thought all the babies had forever messed up the landscape of my belly button and I was really ok with that other than the occasional pain that came with it. So I had an umbilical hernia repaired on Monday. I am still pretty sore and not supposed to lift anything for two weeks. Those of you out there with little ones know that is next to impossible. We have done really well though and have had lots of help. Sad to say that 9 days into the month of April I haven't taken one picture this month. I will fix that this weekend with Easter, promise! Until then, here are a few from a recent trip to the park. Before you get to those a brief update on everyone else:
Derek - doing great! He is playing golf as much as he can and loves being outside with the girls! Just wait till you see what the Easter Bunny is bringing the girls!! He picked it out all by himself!
Paige - she loves to sing lately, could be from watching American Idol all of the time (go Kris Allen)and is still tearing it up at gymnastics.
Chloe - she all of a sudden started counting in the car the other day, now she did start at "8" and go to "12" but that is pretty good to me, she continues to leave us laughing most of the time!
Lyla - all I can say is ON THE MOVE!!! She is not crawling hands and knees yet but very close. She just scoots all over on her tummy and gets where ever she wants to be...
I guess that is about all around here!! If you made it this far thanks!!!
