Easter 2009

We had a great Easter weekend. We started off the weekend with coloring Easter eggs. Not entirely sure why we did this...I mean it was fun and all but we didn't hide them and now they are just sitting on the counter ready to be thrown out. Oh well it was fun. We did hide the plastic eggs but more on that in a minute. On Saturday we went to the Benton Courthouse for an Easter Egg Hunt. It was a lot of fun. They had a 4 and under age division that was perfect for us. The egg "hiders" really didn't have to work too hard, they just scattered 5,000 eggs on the courthouse lawn with tons of eager kids waiting to pounce on them. When the signal was given it was almost like a human vacuum cleaner across the grass...nothing was left in its place! The girls were a little overwhelmed by all of the people and stuff but they had fun and got enough eggs to satisfy. We then took ours to a less crowded location to check out the loot. All of the eggs were filled with candy! I was helping Paige with one of hers that was taped and when I opened it there was no candy but a piece of paper that said, "WINNER!! of a $50 savings bond!". Now how cool is that! She was really excited and ready to go and get her money right then. Very Fun! Sunday we got up and got our Easter basket presents. Not sure why but Derek and I just felt funny about the whole Easter Bunny thing...I mean really Easter is about so much more!!! Now don't get down on me...I didn't say I was against the basket and eggs and presents and candy, just a bunny coming by seemed weird on such a moving day. So we went ahead with hiding the eggs and filling the baskets with stuff but just said it was from us instead. We want them to know from the beginning how important Easter is and that it really is about JESUS! The girls each got a golf club, one just their size and some pink golf balls. Can you guess who picked that out? Paige has a pretty good swing already. They went out and hit once in the backyard before the girls got too cold and apparently Paige almost broke the window in our back door. Maybe we need some of those soft practice balls! Easter was a good day, if RAINED AND RAINED AND RAINED but we had a good day and the girls looked precious. Thanks for reading all of this. Hope your Easter was the best...

  1. So sorry you had to have surgery. Hope that you are feeling better. Let me know if you ever need a break. I can always come take the girls and Jonathan to the park one day. Glad ya'll had a great Easter. Love the golf clubs, so fun. Jonathan has had a set since before he was born. My Dad was sooo excited to buy them!
